Zanussi Cook School sponsorship teaches nationwide

Cook School is a not-for-profit initiative set up by established food writer Amanda Grant to offer accessible, achievable and affordable cookery lessons for primary school children nationwide. Cook School sponsorship helps to deliver these programmes in the classrooms and previously they have worked with brands such as Abel and Cole and Linda McCartney.

Research shows children who learn to cook tend to make healthier food choices later in life, so Cook School aims to equip children with the skills needed to make healthy meals from scratch. They are then encouraged to repeat the recipes at home and feed to their families.

Zanussi’s parent company Electrolux shapes living for the better by reinventing taste, care and wellbeing experiences, making life more enjoyable and sustainable for millions of people. As a leading global appliance company, they place the consumer at the heart of everything they do. Through their brands, including Electrolux, AEG, Anova, Frigidaire, Westinghouse and Zanussi, they sell more than 60 million household and professional products in more than 150 markets every year.

Electrolux Food Foundation was set up to support and fund employee-driven projects that take action on food challenges. Electrolux Food Foundation projects should educate and spread awareness amongst consumers to minimise the negative impact on the environment, cook with a limited budget, prepare nutritious food and support people’s ability to provide food for themselves.

Marking its 100th anniversary, Electrolux has made a global commitment to take action on food-related challenges with a mission to inspire and engage 300,000 children, consumers and professionals to adopt better food habits and sustainable ways of cooking by 2030.

In partnership with a Cook School sponsorship, Electrolux and their employees will teach 900 children at 3 Luton primary schools to create delicious meals using Zanussi appliances.

The Zanussi Cook School events will be held at Downside Primary School, Tuesday, July 2nd, 9am-3.30pm, St Joseph’s Catholic Junior School, Tuesday, July 9th, 9am-3.30pm and St Margaret’s, Friday, July 12th, 9am-3.30pm.

Following the Luton launch, the initiative will be rolled out nationwide with Zanussi and Cook School providing weekly cooking classes to ten schools by September 2019. By the end of 2020, they will have delivered weekly Zanussi Cook School classes to at least 30 schools nationwide.
