International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) is one of the world’s most respected photographic competitions; and a leader in depicting natural plant life via photography.

Started in 2007, IGPOTY grew in its acclaim and under the management of Tyrone McGlinchey, blossomed to become one of the world’s premier photography competitions and exhibitions; specialising in garden and plant photography. IGPOTY runs all competitions via its bespoke website platform: www.igpoty.com

The main competition runs from February to October 31st each year, and has an overall first place prize of £5,000 (best single image) plus £1,500 for the Portfolios winner. There are 9 main thematic categories, and a variety of annual special awards including the European Garden Photography Award and numerous localised photo competitions such as ‘Beautiful Blenheim’ (in partnership with the UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Tyrone McGlinchey, MD and Head Judge of IGPOTY, commented:

“The slogan we have used for many years, remains ‘Images of a Green Planet’ and protecting our planet has become one of the most pressing issues of our times, as we invite photographers from across the world to document flora, fungi and fauna.

2022 is our sixteenth competition year and we look forward to working with like-minded partners to broaden public understanding of the natural world and our place within it.”

Karen Morris, MD of Reg&Co, an appointed sponsorship agency of IGPOTY added,

“Partners will be able to become associated with IGPOTY, which is partnered with the UK’s most prestigious cultural and green sector institutions such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, the National Trust, and The Royal Photographic Society. We look forward to working closely with Tyrone and his team to bring on partners and support IGPOTY.”
