The International Wine and Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is the biggest competition of its kind in the world. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs and it achieves this through sampling, judging, and celebrating the very best in global wine and spirits.
A rigorous two-stage judging process of professional blind tasting and detailed technical (chemical and microbiological) analysis. To ensure perfect conditions, the resources include temperature-controlled cellars, a fully equipped independent laboratory for technical analysis and dedicated tasting rooms.
The competition receives entries from over 89 countries, is judged by 400 judges tasting 549 gins, c 1,000 whiskeys and over 7,200 number of wines each year. It is attended by over 600 leading industry professionals from the wine and spirits industry to celebrate the achievements of the year.
