The SEA LIFE Trust Olympus partnership with the SEA LIFE Beluga Whale Sanctuary brings one of the world’s top photographers to document the incredble journey of two Beluga Whales to the world’s first whale sanctuary.

It’s one of the biggest developments in captive whale and dolphin care and protection in decades and it is hoped the project will help to encourage the rehabilitation of more captive whales into more natural environments in the future and one day brings an end to whale and dolphin entertainment shows.

Currently located at Chanafeng Ocean World in Shanghai, China; Beluga whales ‘Little Grey’ and ‘Little White’ will take part in an incredible 6,000-mile journey to become the first residents of the sanctuary in a natural bay at Heimaey Island off the southern coast of Iceland. The whales will be transported by air, land and sea and will arrive in June 2019.

In a brand partnership brought together by sponsorship agency Reg & Co., Olympus has commissioned renowned photographer Tesni Ward to document the journey from China to Iceland as part of their sponsorship as official photography partner.

Tesni will also do a social Q&A for Sea Life / Sea Life Trust and short social media videos around the shoot for use jointly. A hardback book documenting the journey will be created and subsequently available for sale, both at Sea Life centres and through Olympus gallery and own channels, the proceeds of which will be donated to the sanctuary and the Sea Life Trust.

The deal between Olympus and the Sea Life Trust was brokered by Reg & Co. Sponsorship Agency.
