International engineering company Babcock has been confirmed as a national sponsor for the overall Mayflower 400 programme and as title sponsor for Mayflower Week in September 2020.

The Mayflower 400 year in 2020, marks the 400th anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower from Plymouth UK to Plymouth Massachusetts – commemorating the historic journey of the Mayflower ship, the Pilgrims, passengers and crew, to America.

In a deal brokered by Reg&Co Sponsorship Agency, Babcock is sponsoring the major commemoration events between 14th – 20th September next year that include the Mayflower Public Commemoration Ceremony at its heart on 16 September, marking the 400 year anniversary of the sailing of this famous ship.

The ceremony will involve representatives of four nations that make up the story of the pilgrims, UK, USA, Netherlands and the Native American Wampanoag people in addition to a 1000 voice choir and the band of the Royal Marines.

Mayflower Week will also include the Royal Marines Rehabilitation Triathlon in the programme alongside Mayflower Muster, a two-day festival celebrating our military heritage in partnership with the UK, US and Dutch Armed Forces, that concludes the week of activities.

Babcock’s sponsorship of Mayflower 400 was welcomed by Charles Hackett, CEO of Mayflower 400:

“Babcock’s support for this historic commemoration will enable us to deliver memorable events to mark this moment. They have a genuine link to both the programme and the international nature of Mayflower 400 that makes them the perfect partner for Mayflower Week.”

Mike Homer, MD of Devonport Royal Dockyard, is pleased that they are able to show support for such a significant event:

“As a trusted support partner to the Armed Forces for more than 100 years, and the fact that we operate out of the largest and one of the oldest dockyards in Western Europe, means that Babcock is perfectly placed to be working closely with the Mayflower 400 team to commemorate this important landmark in maritime history. It is hugely significant, not only to the city of Plymouth, but more widely across the UK, as well as internationally, and we are delighted to show our support.”

Reg&Co is the sponsorship and partnership agency for Mayflower 400 and are specialists in creating events for brand interactions including Terry Waite’s headline role in the Mayflower 400 speaker series.
